LEBANON VOICENOTE: MSF’s Emergency Unit Medical Deputy Chris Hook
Since early March, Israeli forces have issued numerous mass displacement orders across southern Lebanon, including for the coastal city of Tyre/Sour, which continues to be subjected to bombardment. Over one million people have been forcibly displaced across the country, many from the south.
Despite this, some people have remained in southern areas, including Tyre, either because they are unable or unwilling to leave. At the same time, others displaced from nearby areas have fled to the city of Tyre/Sour.
MSF teams visited the city of Tyre and are starting to support a hospital and forcibly displaced people. There are urgent needs in water and sanitation services, as well as in essential items such as hygiene kits and blankets. While hospitals are still functioning and able to cope, they are receiving injured patients almost daily. Many of the healthcare staff are living inside the hospital.
We are sharing with you a voice note from Chris Hook, MSF’s Emergency Unit Medical Deputy, recorded on 2 April 2026.
MSF teams have recently conducted assessments in Tyre and surrounding areas, including hospitals in the city. This marks the first time since early March that MSF teams are establishing activities in areas under forced displacement orders by Israeli forces in southern Lebanon.
