MSF driver's son injured in Gaza church attack

18 July 2025 - On Thursday, 17 July, Israeli forces struck the Holy Family Church in Gaza, where hundreds of displaced people, including Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) staff and their families were sheltering. Three people were killed. Several others were injured, including Carlos, the three-year-old son of our colleague, Edward Antone, who works as a driver for MSF. This is Edward's testimony:

"At exactly 10.15 am, The church of the Holy Family in Gaza was targeted. Two of the displaced people in the church were killed. We are about 450 displaced people in the church.

Of course, there are injuries as well. Father Gabriel Romanelli, who is the priest of the church, was injured. Several other young people were injured as well.

Their injuries are, of course, very serious. There is a very serious injury until now. I am currently at work.

I was contacted by my family. They told me that the church was targeted. There are injuries and [people have been] killed.

My son is one of the injured people. He is three years old. He got a shrapnel in the leg.

But thank God, they treated him in the place and removed the shrapnel."
