MSF GAZA: Despite the ceasefire agreement, Israeli attacks continue throughout the Gaza Strip

On 8 March 2026, MSF teams received six patients with injuries from Israeli airstrikes, at our field hospital in Deir El Balah. Three people were killed, including two children, and multiple were injured in the attack.

“The situation was horrific,” says Ibrahim Abo Leila, who was hit by shrapnel on both legs. “The area was relatively safe. Nothing had happened there for a long time. And suddenly, the Israeli forces struck.”

Despite the ceasefire agreement, we continue to see attacks throughout the Gaza Strip. More than 618 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza by Israeli attacks since the ceasefire. There is no safety in Gaza, where the humanitarian situation remains catastrophic.

TRANSCRIPTION

"We, as foreign MSF workers, had to leave the Gaza strip last Thursday [26 February 2026] due to the Israeli authorities' decision regarding our registration.

We are registered with the Palestinian authorities and, as such, we will continue to work with our Palestinian staff, more than 1,200 people, who provide medical care to the Palestinian people every day and who also provide water.

Foreign journalists are banned from Gaza. Palestinian journalists are targeted and killed.

We will continue to [bear] witness to the situation in Gaza, as we have done over the past two years. We are determined."
