MSF LEBANON: Israel increases airstrikes in Lebanon, massive displacement of people

Since the early hours of this morning (March 2, 2026), hundreds of thousands of people have been fleeing their towns and homes, following relentless Israeli bombings on several areas of Lebanon. Our teams have witnessed large waves of displacement, severe traffic congestion, and people fleeing with very few belongings, desperately seeking safety elsewhere.

Although the Israeli airstrikes have continued over the past 15 months despite the ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024, this escalation marks the most intense period since then, placing even greater strain on civilians who already lived through several waves of insecurity and displacement.

Our teams are mobilizing to adapt our activities and assess how to respond to the emerging needs of displaced people, while ensuring continuity of care across our regular projects in Lebanon.

We are in touch with the relevant authorities to provide additional support where needed.

In Lebanon, MSF currently runs clinics in Beirut and Baalbek-Hermel, supports ministry of health's clinics in Tripoli, and runs mobile clinics in Akkar. In southern Lebanon, we run mobile clinics since the escalation in 2024.
