MSF: Mass casualty linked to food distribution in Gaza

08 June 2025 - 13 injured people and one person who was dead on arrival were brought to the emergency room of the Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) clinic in Al Mawasi, Khan Younis, Gaza today, Sunday 08 June. They were carried in donkey carts, on bicycles, or on foot.

The patients, all men aged between 17 and 30 years old, told MSF they were shot in the Shakoush area, while on their way to a food distribution site in Saudi Village. Some of those in a critical condition were referred to Nasser hospital.

In Nasser hospital, 40 patients have been referred in total since midnight, mostly coming from Rafah with gunshot wounds, according to staff from the Ministry of Health.

The health system is nearing total collapse and is overwhelmed with patients with life-altering injuries from violence. A lasting ceasefire and a scale up of unhindered, humanitarian aid – including food and medical supplies – are of vital urgency to stop this man-made catastrophe.
