MSF resumes activities in Gaza City

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) was forced to leave Gaza City on 24 September 2025 amid the intensified Israeli offensive. With the start of the ceasefire on October 10, huge numbers of displaced people returned north to Gaza City. After careful monitoring and assessment, MSF has partially resumed its activities in Gaza City as we try to go where patients are.

On October 15, MSF reopened its wound care clinic in Gaza City. Since then, MSF has received more than 500 patients – the majority of them trauma patients. Many of them didn’t have access to proper wound care and dressings over the past weeks. MSF also continues to support Al-Helou Maternity hospital and Al Shifa hospital remotely. We are committed to providing medical care to Palestinians, and to gradually return to our previous capacity. Therefore, we continue to assess the potential increase in activities depending on the security situation.

As of October 14, MSF also started water trucking again in Gaza City. For seven consecutive days we have been providing drinking water, between 90 and 120 m3 per day, ranging from nine to 14 distribution sites. We are currently assessing the option to further expand the volume, as more and more people are returning from the south and have little water accessible to them in Gaza City.
