MSF UKRAINE: Voice note on the impact of electricity cuts across Ukraine

Please find below a voice note from Enrique Garcia Quiroz, project coordinator for MSF in eastern Ukraine, which highlights the impact of electricity cuts across Ukraine, especially near the frontline. Russian forces continue to heavily target Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. As a result, more than one million people are reported to be facing power cuts, which also affect heating and water supply, as these services depend on electricity.

Electricity is rationed, with many households receiving only 3–4 hours of power during the day and 3–4 hours at night. This forces people to adapt their daily routines to care for their homes and families. Many MSF patients near the frontline are elderly, have chronic conditions. For them, the lack of heating, electricity and hot water can seriously affect their health and quality of life.
