MSF Update: Forced demolitions in the southern occupied West Bank

On Monday 10 February, the Israeli military conducted forced demolitions in Khallet Athaba and Jinba, in the southern occupied West Bank, destroying 11 homes and forcibly displacing more than 50 Palestinians.

“These house demolitions are part of an increasingly coercive and oppressive environment, following a systematic pattern aimed at pushing Palestinian communities out of their homes and away from their properties”, says Chloe Janssen, MSF Field Coordinator.

MSF conducted an emergency intervention in both locations, as well as social and mental health assessments with the affected families to organize further support. MSF has been running a regular mobile clinic in Jinba since 2021 and started providing mental health support in Khallet Athaba in December 2023.

In Khallet Athaba, around 100 people are under imminent risk of forcible transfer and continue to face tremendous pressure from Israeli soldiers and settlers. MSF calls on Israeli authorities to cease its coercive and oppressive measures aimed to forcibly displace Palestinian communities.
