As of 31 December 2025, MSF is still awaiting renewal of its registration to operate in Gaza and the West Bank under new Israeli requirements, including staff lists. Despite months of engagement, no clear criteria or safeguards have been provided. On 30 December, Israeli authorities publicly accused MSF staff of links to armed groups. MSF takes such accusations extremely seriously and would never knowingly employ anyone engaged in military activity. Unsubstantiated public claims put humanitarian staff at risk and undermine life-saving medical work.

The Palestinian health system is decimated, essential infrastructure destroyed, and people struggle to meet basic needs. People need more services, not less. If MSF and other INGOs lose access, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians would be cut off from essential care. MSF currently supports one in five hospital beds and one in three births in Gaza. In 2025 alone, we provided nearly 800,000 outpatient

consultations, treated over 100,000 trauma cases, performed 22,700 surgeries, assisted more than 10,000 births, and distributed nearly 700 million litres of water.

Reports suggesting that MSF has failed to comply with registration rules are inaccurate. We have been fully engaged since July 2025 and submitted most of the required information. MSF continues to seek dialogue with Israeli authorities so we can deliver vital services and support Gaza’s decimated health system.

Key Messages: Impact of Deregistration

  • The Palestinian health system is decimated, essential infrastructure destroyed, and people struggle to meet basic needs. People need more services, not less.
  • If MSF and other INGOs lose access, it will be a disaster for hundreds of thousands of Palestinians. MSF supports one in five hospital beds and one in three births in Gaza.
  • In 2025 alone, MSF carried out almost 800,000 outpatient consultations, handled more than 100,000 trauma cases, and distributed over 700 million litres of water. If our registration is renewed, we plan to strengthen activities in 2026.
